1. on whistle, one forward from each corner in one end leaves and skates straight up ice. 2. coach hits one of the forwards with a pass 3. backchecker chases the forward who didn't receive the pass 4. defenseman steps out and plays the 2 on 1 5. player who backchecked turns to one corner or the other, whichever side he turns to has to backcheck on the way back
